Participants in BQLI’s Summer Health Internship Program (SHIP) will complete six online courses as part of their training.
The courses are designed to provide a more robust experience for participants and to give them skills to be successful at their worksites.
Professionalism, HIPPA, workplace safety, and patient safety are among the topics to be explored by SHIP participants.
During their internships, young people complete one day of didactic training at BQLI and three days of work at a worksite. Guest speakers and off-site college trips are also part of the curriculum.
The program is open to young people ages 17 to 24 and will run from July 1, 2024, to August 8, 2024.
Funding for the coursework is being provided through a New York Department of Health grant.
